On 9th January 1963, Patna college was Established. Post Graduate Department in Arts Faculty was opened in 1917. Physics and Chemistry department got functional in 1919.

To impart education in engineering Patna Engineering College (NIT) was established.
To promote Patna Art, Government School of Arts and Crafts was opened. With the passage of time was granted the status of college.
